Crush the Ultimate Balancing Act: Tips For Balancing Life...Along With Everything Else

Updated: Mar 10, 2020

Americans are stressed out.  Really stressed out.  A recent survey revealed that Americans are more stressed than the rest of the world. Stress can lead to heart problems, weight gain, and so many other physical ailments.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Balancing life is easier than you think if you focus on one principle: harmony.

Keep reading to learn more about how you can achieve harmony in your life and find the “balance” you're looking for.

Achieving Harmony Versus Balancing Life

Think about the act of balancing. As a recovering lawyer, the scales of justice come to mind.  In order for there to be balance, the weight has to be equal.  When is that ever the case in life?

In life, when we talk about balance, it's about finding ways to make sure each aspect of your life takes up a certain amount of time and energy. And, yes, it's as complicated as it sounds.

That's why I don't encourage people to find balance and instead focus on what's the ultimate balancing act: harmony.

Achieving harmony in your life means bringing these aspects together so you can live your one life to the fullest rather than feeling like a fractured person.

Tips for Finding Harmony in Your Life

Let's jump into four ways you can find harmony in your life.

1. Do What You Love

A popular quote that holds true is "Do what you'll love and you'll never work a day in your life."

If you find your job stressful and loathe going there every morning, it's time to look for a new job or even find a new career. Today, it's easier than ever to find something fulfilling that you can make money doing.

I promise, it’s not as scary as it sounds.  Start with asking yourself this one question:  what would have to be true for me to transition to a new job?  Is fear standing in your way?

2. Plan Your Day

If you don't have a plan for each and every day, it's hard to stay focused and accomplish your goals. That's why it's so important to take a few minutes every morning to plan your day.

3. Identify Distractions

There are things in your life that are keeping you from doing what you really want. These distractions could be anything from toxic relationships to social media.

Take some time to figure out what you're wasting your time on and take steps to remove those things from your life. You'd be amazed at how much time you can free up to pursue things you love when you stop checking Facebook all day!  Believe me, I’ve been caught in that scroll-hole myself.

4. Reflect

Never underestimate the power of reflection! At least once a day, take some time to meditate and reflect on the day, your life, and beyond.

First, think about the things that brought you disharmony and come up with a plan to remove them from your life. Let the stress and negative emotions go.

Then, think about what made you feel good that day and figure out how to incorporate those things into your life more. Let’s not forget, you probably crushed it at some parts of your day. Focus on that.
